What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy harnesses the power of ultrasound to transform the brow, chin, neck and chest. Unlike lasers, surgery and other technologies, non-surgical Ultherapy bypasses the surface of the skin to deliver the right amount of ultrasound energy at specific depths and the right temperature. Using safe, time-tested ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally, Ultherapy triggers a natural response under the skin, jumpstarting the regenerative process that produces fresh, new collagen—without downtime.
Ultherapy is the only non-invasive procedure that FDA-cleared to lift skin on the neck, under the chin and on the eyebrow. Now also Health Canada-cleared to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolletage, Ultherapy can help you achieve a fresher, more youthful look from your brow to your chest!
How does Ultherapy work?
The Ultherapy® procedure stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer typically addressed in cosmetic surgery—without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin. Ultrasound has been used safely throughout the medical field for more than 50 years—and Ultherapy has been established as safe and effective in clinical studies and in over half a million treatments worldwide.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
A good candidate for Ultherapy is someone with skin that has some degree of laxity, to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm. A lowered eyebrow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of aging skin as well as loose skin on the neck and under the chin signals you may be a candidate - typically, those in their early 30s and older. While Ultherapy does not replace a surgical facelift, there are many people who want some lifting but are not ready for surgery, either mentally, physically, or financially. There also are younger people who want to “stay ahead of the game” as well as those looking to prolong the effects of cosmetic surgery.
Can men have Ultherapy done?
Yes! Both women and men globally are receiving Ultherapy. Our device specialists find that the Ultherapy treatment is equally popular amongst both male and female patients.
What can you expect from an Ultherapy treatment?
Some patients see an initial effect right after their treatment, but the real results appear over 2−3 months as new collagen works to lift, tighten and smooth the skin. While Ultherapy won’t duplicate the results of a facelift, it’s a clinically proven non-invasive alternative for those not ready for surgery—and can even be an option for patients who wish to extend the effects of cosmetic surgery.
How many treatments are required?
Depending on the amount of laxity and desired result, patients may only need one treatment; however, some may benefit from more than one treatment depending on their body’s own biological response to the ultrasound and the collagen-building process.
What can you expect on your treatment day?
Procedures are usually 1-2 hours, depending on the area being treated. Lying down, you will have your face or chest lined with a washable make-up pencil to outline the treatment areas. The device specialist will then begin the procedure by applying specific amounts of Ultrasound to areas of skin laxity.
While some Ultherapy patients take a mild pain-killer, which would required them to pre-arrange a ride home, Ultherapy is a completely bearable procedure, which many people find tolerable without any painkillers.
The night after your treatment, you can expect some tenderness on the treatment area. However, there is no downtime for Ultherapy, and you can continue with your day-to-day activities including going to the gym, applying makeup, and meeting up with friends!
