belkyra double chin

Belkyra

Belkyra, branded Kybella in the United States, is an injectable drug that reduces submental fat, better known as a double chin. It was approved by Health Canada in July 2015, and became available in January 2016. It is composed of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring bile salt that destroys fat cells, offering an alternative to surgical procedures. Belkyra is administered as a series of two to four treatment sessions, typically spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. Results are evident four to six weeks following treatment. Once the desired effect is achieved, retreatment is not expected because the fat cells have been permanently destroyed. Recovery is generally well-tolerated. Patients typically experience swelling as a normal part of the healing process. For more information, please contact Compass Dermatology to book a cosmetic consultation.
